"The Story Teller's Journey" Sermon Series
God's Radical Call to Forgiveness and Hope |
The final sermon in our pre-play sermon series is based upon two of Jesus' parables, the "Persistent Widow" in Luke 18 and part of the "Prodigal Son" in Luke 15. In both stories Jesus holds up what happens when we truly give ourselves to God and place all of our trust in him. Jesus calls us to be persistent in prayer. He also reminds us of what true repentance is all about. Both persistence and repentance open up our lives to God's amazing hope and forgiveness.

God's Radical Call to the Kingdom |
This Sunday we look at two very challenging parables that will be a part of the play on March 6: Matthew 22:1-14 (The Wedding Banquet) and Matthew 25:1-13 (The Ten Bridesmaids). These stories tell of the importance of accepting gifts, and being well prepared for whatever lies ahead. But as with most things in the Bible, there's more to them than meets the eye. Come to hear these parables, and take a deeper look at what they tell us about God and what they mean for our lives today.

The Radical Call to Grace |
Many of the stories Jesus told helped illustrate the amazing nature of God's love and grace. In a world that loved to judge people and put them down, (have things really changed?), Jesus used parables to show how God's love reaches out to those many people would consider unworthy. The "Parable of the Lost Sheep" in Luke 15 and the "Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard" in Matthew 20 are Jesus' stories we will hear about this week.
