Moana Sermon Series Week 4: Uncharted Waters |
In the movie Moana sets sail to find Maui. Her voyage is something new for her and literally leads her into uncharted waters. Things do not go smoothly for her, but she needs to complete her journey to help save her people.
Faith calls you and me into "uncharted waters"; leading us out of our comfort zones. Our Bible stories this week about Jonah's sea journey and Peter walking on the water illustrate this for us so clearly. The question these stories, and the movie, raise for us is, "How and where is God calling me into unchartered waters so that I may grow in faith, serve him better and help others?" |

Moana Sermon Series Week 3: Finding Your Purpose |
God gives us friends, mentors, and guides who teach us how to live faithfully in the world. This week we look at the stories of Elijah and his protégé Elisha, Ruth's faithfulness to her mother-in-law Naomi, and Mary's bond with her cousin Elizabeth. God speaks to us through those who are close to us, and there is so much we can learn when we listen to the wise counsel of those we trust. This week everyone will receive a prayer partner on their way out of worship so that you have someone to pray for, and someone to pray for you.

Moana Sermon Series Week 2: Ancient Stories |
The stories of those who came before us and how they lived out their faith give us a new lens to see God's purpose in our lives. We will look at stories of the faith of many people in the Bible: Abel, Enoch, Abraham and Sarah, Rahab, Gideon and others. Moana's grandmother was a great influence in her life by sharing the ancient stories of her people. Today will be a celebration of what we learn from those who came before us, and hold up the importance of sharing our faith with those in our families.

Moana Sermon Series Week 1 |
God calls to us in unexpected ways- both through the voice in our hearts, and through the world around us. And God only calls people who are not perfect- because none of us are! This week we look at the call stories of Moses and Mary (and Moana!) as we begin exploring our 4-week theme "Who Am I? The Adventure of Faith".
